Planning for a perfect date or a fun family outing? Grab a basket and blanket and head to the beach for a leisurely picnic! If you're thinking about going on a beach picnic this summer, check out our tips on packing for the best beach picnic in Sarasota

Enjoy a simple picnic by packing time-tested favorites like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or ham and turkey sandwiches. Not only are sandwiches easy, but they're also budget-friendly and quick to prepare. This type of picnic pairs well with simple, on-the-go sides like chips and salsa, grapes, cheese sticks, and pudding cups for dessert.

If you're running short on time or planning a last-minute picnic, swing by Publix for great pre-made foods and fill your basket with sweet tea, deli sandwiches, potato salad, and hummus and guacamole with crisps. You can also order a sub or wrap from the deli, but order it in advance online so you can just pick it up and go instead of waiting in line. Grab cookies or cupcakes for dessert in the nearby bakery section as well as plates, cups, utensils, and napkins if you haven't already packed these items.

For a date you want to impress, pack a fancy picnic basket with their favorite bottle of wine or sparkling beverage, a charcuterie platter with various meats, and artisan cheeses and breads. For dessert, opt for chocolate-covered strawberries or macaroons. Choosing a nicer basket and blanket combo will also add some ambiance on top of the beautiful beach scenery.

In addition to a basket, blanket, food, and other items, make sure to bring water and sunscreen on your picnic as well as so you'll stay hydrated and protected from the sun.

There are several beaches to choose from in Sarasota, but Siesta Key Beach is popular choice for beach picnics because the sand is soft and not as sticky as other beaches, making it a perfect place to lay down a blanket and enjoy a meal.
