Barrel 87

The bar was sold to Brian Zickafoose in 2008, he then turned it into Sarasota's newest gay bar. Zickafoose closed the doors of Barrel 87 for a short time to open a mega club, Throb Nightclub. With the popularity of Throb Nightclub Zickafoose decided to have two gay bars in Sarasota and he later reopened Barrel 87's doors again with a beer and wine license. Barrel 87 had head liners such as Lady Leimont and was managed by Ronny Barnett. Barrel 87 ran for a few more years before Zickafoose decided to sell. The bar was in sold October 2015 to Joseph Allen. He kept the bar as a beer and wine establishment, bringing in new performers and new bartenders. Allen ran the bar for 6 months before teaming up with porn super star Hunter Vance and Sarasota veteran bartender, Curtis Tomas. In March of 2016 the team took the necessary steps to purchase a liquor license, which was a challenging acquisition, but they did it. Barrel celebrated with a grand reopening party on June 3rd 2016.

Barrel 87 has a long history in Sarasota. Barrel 87 began as a Coyote Ugly Bar, where women in short Daisy Dukes danced on the bar, but Barrel was transformed from women in short shorts to guys in Andrew Christian underwear.
