The Sarasota Ballet Presents Martha Graham Dance Company as part of their 100th Anniversary tour. Founded in 1926 by the legendary Martha Graham, the company bearing her name has become synonymous with the American modern dance movement. An artistic force and choreographic pioneer, Martha Graham would change the art of dance, creating 181 works and her own truly unique style that focuses on innovative physicality that would “increase the emotional activity of the dancer’s body.” The Martha Graham Dance Company fuses intricate technique, emphasizing sharp movements and angles, with innate musicality to create a truly memorable experience that resonates with sublime human emotion.
