Take a lovely guided stroll through the historic arboretum of exotic plants. The last 30 minutes of the tour is inside the Center.
Event Details
Asian scholar Elling Oliver Eide possessed deep expertise in horticulture. Eide and his family planted hundreds of plants and trees from around the world on this 72-acre family estate.
The arboretum is an expansive collection of rare and unusual species with many that produce showy flowers and edible fruits. The tour includes a lovely stroll through the historic arboretum and a brief look inside the Elling Eide Research Library and the current exhibits on display from the Eide collection.
Arboretum tour guide Norman Burr has a diverse background including advanced degrees in geology and geophysics, over 20 years experience as a docent at prestigious botanical gardens, and as a college botany instructor. He comes to us from his most recent position as a docent at the Smithsonian Hall of Human Origins and the Meteorite Gallery.
