It's been common knowledge around town for some time that the Punta Gorda Block Party, like the Air Show, was trying to come back after being canceled the last 2 years for financial reasons. You can now mark your calendars for April 29.
Event Details
Thanks to some generous sponsors, Block Party volunteers have raised enough funding to once again stage the area’s largest and most popular street festival. It’s also returning to Marion Avenue in the heart of downtown.
Block Party history stretches back to 1987 when it was the capstone event of a year-long series of celebrations celebrating the city’s centennial. Because of its popularity, city officials asked the volunteer organizers to continue the event on an annual basis. Punta Gorda Days Inc. was incorporated as a nonprofit and entered into a partnership with the city to organize the biggest one-day street festival in Southwest Florida.
