Robert & Donna opened the Hickory Hollow in January 1984. Robert is from Williamston NC & Donna is from the Chesapeake Bay Area, Maryland and son Jarrett & wife Jenelle w/ their 3 kids are continuing the family tradition for many years to come.
2006 we were rated 3rd in the nation in the USA Today. We were here before the Interstate and Outlet Mall. This location used to be a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom house. We opened w/ only 32 seats and our bathrooms were located outside.
Our pig mascot our front was created for the 2000 Rubonia Mardi Gras, the head is usually taken by local hoodlums and found later.
The animals on the grounds (Nellie the Goat, Queenie the Peahen, and Pepper the Rooster) have just shown up over the years.
We use white hickory we import from Java, VA to smoke our meat. Our pulled pork cooking process takes 24 hours to complete. Our crab cakes and seafood entrees are Baltimore family recipes.
We have catered events from 10 people to 525 people.
