This weekend is Easter in Sarasota and there are plenty of events happening to help your family celebrate the day, but that's not all Sarasota has to offer. There are also some events unrelated to the holiday. So, if you’re looking for an untraditional way to celebrate or if you’re just looking for something to occupy the rest of your weekend, there’s plenty to do.
If you like to laugh, head to McCurdys Comedy Theatre this weekend to see a familiar face. Even if you don’t recognize the name Jim McCue, you’ve probably seen him on Comedy Central, Last Comic Standing, or Roughing It. With his world-renown talent for entertaining, Sarasota will offer several chances for you to see him this weekend. Join other locals in The Green Room before and after the shows for some food, drinks, and fun.
Kayaking is a great way to relax and enjoy the world around you, and this trip will open your eyes to a whole new world that wakes after sunset. Under a full moon, you’ll float through Terre Ceia Preserve. Launch happens at the Bishop Harbor Boat and Kayak Launch Ramp at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are just $49 a person and includes everything you’ll need to make this a successful experience. Estimated time of return is 11:30 p.m. Reservations are required and must be made by April 18.
Sarasota's Monthly Food Truck Rally!
With all the cooking you have to do for Easter, don’t worry about preparing meals the rest of the weekend. Check out the food truck rally at JDub's Brewing Company & Tap Room instead. Beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday night and 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon, you’re entire family can choose between Sarasota’s most loved food trucks. With barbecue, burgers, tacos, schnitzel, and so much more, your family will not go hungry.
On April 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., take the whole family to Nathan Benderson Park for Big Truck Day Eggstravaganza! This free family event encourages children to honk horns and pull levers and let their imaginations run wild. Firetrucks, busses, and other vehicles will be there for kids to have an up close and personal experience. There will also be egg hunts for all ages.
Acro Fit Gymnastics Sarasota is having an indoor egg hunt for a limited number of people on April 18. No crowds or heat, and with different hunting areas for different age groups, you don’t have to worry about older kids finding all the eggs. Tickets are just $20 per child and $10 per sibling. This Easter party will also have a photo area, interactive activities, crafting, and more!
Come meet the Easter Bunny on April 19 at the Sarasota Jungle Gardens . He’s been very busy there so far, hiding 45,000 Easter eggs full of surprises. Make sure your family has their baskets for all the egg hunting from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Until the event ends at 5 p.m., there will be face painting, pony rides, and a petting zoo. Children will also have the opportunity to take pictures with the Easter Bunny.
On April 20, bring your creative children to Children's World & Children's World Uniform Supply in Sarasota. Let them work out their anticipation for Easter by crafting their very own Easter dress-up accessory. They can craft bunny ears or just something for a celebration. The supplies are provided. The only limit is their imagination!
Adult Easter Sunday Funday | Bottomless Mimosas and Bloody Marys
After the cooking, the egg hunting, and the celebrating, there’s a way for you to relax. Art Ovation Hotel is hosting a much-needed adult only Easter celebration on April 21 beginning at 2 p.m. With bottomless mimosas and bloody Marys, you won’t have any trouble letting go of family drama and your kids’ sugar highs. DJ Don Pablo will be providing the musical entertainment for the day.
There are many events this Easter weekend in Sarasota but not all area holiday related. So, whether you want ways for your family to celebrate the holiday together, or you’re looking for something to do for the rest of the weekend, there’s an event for you to attend.
