If you're into riding your bike and getting fit around the Bradenton area, you owe it to yourself to check out one of the biggest recreation events in the area, the Gulf Coast Cycle Fest in Lakewood Ranch.
Hosted by the Sarasota Manatee Cycle Club, the 20th Annual Gulf Coast Cycle fest takes place on Main Street in Sarasota's Lakewood Ranch community on Sunday, November 6 this year. This is an event that welcomes spectators as well as cycling participants of all skill and endurance levels.
Enter and choose from four different routes; 100 miles, 62 miles, 35 miles, and 15 miles. The 15 mile route is short enough for kids and families and traverses a safe route through the community while the 100 miler is well suited for cycling veterans and the super fit alike. All courses have rest stops with nourishment and drinks provided. Races begin at 7:30 a.m. at Main Street (8100, Lakewood Ranch Boulevard) in Lakewood Ranch.
The entry fee for Gulf Coast Cycle Fest is $40 with $5 off for additional family members and includes breakfast, lunch, and a high quality t shirt for the first 500 entries. To register, visit the Gulf Coast Cycle Fest website.
In addition, there will be a new pre race dinner on Saturday, November 5 this year. It'll take place at the Polo Grill and Bar across from Main Street at 10670 Boardwalk Loop beginning at 6 p.m. Guest speaker, Spencer Smith, a world champion triathlete, will be on hand to motivate participants at this dinner. Tickets to the dinner are $32 and can also be purchased on the Gulf Coast Cycle Fest site.
The Gulf Coast Cycle Fest is a great event for those of all ages looking to cycle with their neighbors in the Bradenton community. Head out and get fit!
